What's up Grade 4!?
So we just recently concluded our unit on Patterning. However, that does not mean we won't use it at all the rest of the year! Patterning is a really useful tool that can be used in your very own homes so it would be wise to brush up on what you learned whenever you get the chance! According to page 73 of the Ontario Math Curriculum, by the end of Grade 4 students will "extend, describe and create repeating, growing and shrinking number patterns." The resource I have provided below gives you the option to create your own pattern (by clicking "Make a Pattern") or filling in the blanks on a started pattern (click "Continue a Pattern"). Check it out here:
Pattern Master 4
Make sure you try both options if you really want to become a patterning master!

Food Chains
Salutations Grade 4!
We're nearing the end of our unit on Habitats and Communities, so I want to see what you have learned! We have invested a great deal of time learning about the structure of food chains including constructing our very own examples and exploring the outdoors as a class. According to page 86 of the Ontario Science and Technology Curriculum, students are expected to "demonstrate an understanding of food chains as systems in which energy from the sun is transferred to producers (plants) and then consumers (animals)." Below is an interactive game that can test your knowledge on the correct sequence (order) of food chains:
The Food Chain Game
You are asked to drag the parts of the food chain to their correct place in order, and if everything is correct you will see it come to life!
Enjoy and have a great day!
